We may not get to see our 2020 favourites take to the stage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reminisce on our Eurovision favourites. This series is aimed to discover the team’s favourite entries from the 21st century, from 2001 to 2019.

Anita Reviews Dennis’ 21st Century Favourite
Pastora Soler – Quédate conmigo | 10th place, 97 points (Final)
It takes a special ballad to really impress me, and this is certainly a special one. Spain have been hit and miss at Eurovision lately, but Pastora Soler really highlighted what Spain could bring to Eurovision. I get goosebumps from the opening moments of the song, and it just keeps getting better from there. Vocally spectacular, and the instrumentals are super impactful during this song. The ‘big’ note towards the end of the song is absolutely INCREDIBLE, and even for that alone, this is one of Spain’s best modern Eurovision entries.
Joshua Reviews Brandon’s 21st Century Favourite
Beth – Dime | 8th place, 81 points (Final)
This entry couldn’t be more stereotypically early 2000s if it tried! The staging, the white outfits… it’s certainly an accurate depiction of the times. As far as the song goes, the verses are really strong, and build nicely. Unfortunately the chorus is a little underwhelming in my opinion. Overall there’s a good rhythm and hook to it, but it misses something as a whole package. Enjoyable but not captivating is my verdict.
